I'm obsessed...

....with people. This photograph makes me smile. And then I think of this quote:
"Before French, German, or Italian culture there is human culture. Consider the great men of the Renaissance; they were neither French, nor Italian, nor German. They had rediscovered, through their dealings with antiquity, the secret of the genuine education of the human spirit, and they devoted themselves to it body and soul. What an achievement theirs was!"
And I love people even more.

I'm very much in a fairy tale type of mood today after watching Ever After on tv. Even after seeing it for the nth time I still can't get over how exquisite her dress is in the masquerade scene. Boy do I wish I could get away with wearing a dress like that to a party. So lovelyyyy.

I wish I were a princess

That way, I'd get to wear ball gowns every day. I mean, I know it doesn't work like that, but I would make it happen.

Exploring Manhattan

I'm an adventurer by nature. There is something about traveling that makes me feel a type of free that is completely and utterly indescribable. The world and her people absolutely fascinate me; with so many different cultures and languages and colors present in the world, how can one not be fascinated? I'm the type of person who would love to spend five years living abroad, wandering from place to place. You know, six months in Paris, followed by six months in Florence/Rome/Venice, followed by six months in South America, and then six months in...well, you get the idea. I often sit and dream about doing something like this, and every time I do, my mind gets happily drunk with the possibility of exploring and eating and adventuring and learning and seeing.

But, alas, it is not realistic for me to do such a thing, and the reason is twofold. Firstly, I am a pre-medical student, which means schooling is extensive, expensive, and exhausting (to say the least). I would not only be 35 years old before I finish medical school, but I would also be a 35 year old with a monstrous amount of debt, who is most likely single, and childless. (That's no fun, me thinks). Secondly, and quite simply, I am terrible at learning new languages. (Not such a great trait to have as a world traveler extraordinaire). And after considering these two realities about my life, I have logically concluded that it is not wise for me to frolic around the world on a five-year exploring escapade. Dammit.

Luckily for me, I have the most wonderful friends, Tori and Sami, who live in one of the best cities in the world, New York City, and they let me visit them. Every year. Aren't I the luckiest girl in the world? They give me a little taste of worldly travels during my little break between my studies. If it weren't for them, I would go stir-crazy in California. But, seriously...

My latest trip to NYC was amazing, to say the least. End. Of. Story.

I'm not one of those girls...

...who is planning out her wedding years and years in advance, but isn't this wedding invitation just so amazing? It's definitely something that I would want to do.

Charmingly simple

I could live in this perfect, lovely, little room. For the rest of my life. Dramatically soft curtains + whitewashed walls + ocean = loveeee.
